Position Summary

We’re hiring 1 part-time Social Media Content Creator (up to 10 hours, 2-4 hours expected per week) to join the Education Programs at OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon. The role supports the creative direction of our presence on TikTok, Instagram, and/or Facebook, highlighting our undergraduate and graduate teaching programs and spotlighting current students, alumni, and faculty. Content may include topics on the teaching profession and local community events. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, develop skills in content creation, social strategy, and audience engagement, and collaborate with Teacher Education faculty on ideas, strategies, and posting schedules. We’re seeking students with experience creating and curating content who are willing to conduct interviews and background research. Creativity, playfulness, and personality are encouraged — authentic student voices should shine. Priority will be given to graduate or undergraduate education students familiar with OSU-Cascades Education programs, but prior experience with these programs is not required. Pay is $20/hour.

Position Duties

  • 70% Video Production and Posting
    Create and publish 1 post per week. Use creativity, humor, and perspective to produce authentic content that resonates with prospective and current students.
  • 15% Creative Brainstorming
    Regular check-ins with Teacher Education faculty via email, videoconference, and in-person meetings.
  • 10% Engagement and Analytics
    Engage with followers and track analytics to learn what’s working and adjust content strategies.

Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by USCIS. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

A commitment to creating inclusive content for diverse audiences; ability to work as part of a team and take creative direction; strong commitment to reliability, deadlines, and proactive idea contribution.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Experience shooting and editing videos for social media (using a phone is acceptable). Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Strong sense of trends and pop culture to drive engaging content.
