Position Summary

The College of Forestry at Oregon State University seeks a student worker to serve as a part-time (maximum of 20 hours per week) writer and content creator to support its marketing and communications team. This role is best for a skilled creative writer who appreciates the art of storytelling from concept to research and takes pride in crafting engaging and thought-provoking digital communications.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, takes initiative and is responsive and committed to hitting their deadlines. Help us expand our online presence, craft stories for the website newsroom, develop other digital content and elevate the college’s digital impact! You do not need to be a forestry student or have in-depth science knowledge to succeed in this role, but should have curiosity and desire to learn new topics and want to help translate complex ideas into digestible storylines.

Position summary:

In this position, you will mainly produce content and write stories for the website. This work may overlap with developing content for our social media channels and building monitor slides. You will gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications. You will create content about a wide range of topics, including:

  • College of Forestry student activities
  • Faculty and student profiles
  • Alumni profiles
  • Academic programs
  • College news
  • Groundbreaking research in sustainable forestry and ecosystems, resilient economies and thriving communities
  • The College’s work to advance equity and inclusion for students and faculty
  • Events, scholarships and other topics that will engage readers while demonstrating the impact of the College of Forestry

You will gain valuable experience you can add to your resume. You will work primarily in the College of Forestry marketing and communications suite in the Peavy Forest Science Center and potentially work collaboratively with other student workers.
