Responsibilities
- Work from Government instructions and Maintenance Instruction Manuals and Company directives to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of aircraft life support systems and aircrew personal survival equipment.
- Transport, install and remove Cartridge Actuated Devices and Propulsion Actuated Devices.
- Pack, unpack, preserve and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits.
- Repair, fit, maintain and preserve pilots personal equipment.
- Perform corrosion control and prevention as required.
- Issue and receive aircrew survival equipment.
- Initiate and update checkout/return records.
- Assemble, place in service, and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets, and other related safety/survival equipment.
- Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment.
- Maintain OOMA for parachute and personal equipment for accountability and inspection due dates.
- Adjust, maintain, and perform minor repairs on sewing machines; construct fabric items and perform hand tacking on fabrics.
- Remove, install, and repair slide fasteners, grommets, snap fasteners, and Velcro closures on personal survival equipment and other fabrics.
- Order required survival equipment and supplies.
- Install and test emergency radios in survival vest.
- May be required to perform collateral duty inspection or CDQAR functions.
- Identify and treat corrosion; complete applicable maintenance forms.
- Brief and debrief flight personnel on the use and condition of survival equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of work center and comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.
- Assist as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of Government/Company Owned equipment.
- May perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Deal with the customer in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
Basic Qualifications
- Completion of U.S. Navy Aircrew Survival Equipment man “A” school or another military, civilian, or manufacturer school with equivalent curriculum; must possess mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to meet Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements and obtain the required security clearance.
- Two (2) years of experience in aviator’s personal survival equipment and aircraft installed safety/survival equipment maintenance.
- As a government contractor, Vertex Aerospace requires all employees to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment per Executive Order 14042. Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis for religious or medical accommodations. A vaccination status form and proof of vaccination may be required.
