Overview

Manage, oversee and coordinate video and/or stage production, programs and activities in assigned department; prepare, determine and recommend the assigned budget for media resources equipment, materials, supplies and staffing needs; establish contact with vendors and performers; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the most technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, media arts or a related field; and four (4) years of professional video production or stage management experience; and to include two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.

Additional requirements

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Operations, services and activities of a comprehensive municipal media resources program
  • Principles and practices of entertainment and event planning
  • Technical procedures and methods involved in television broadcast production and multi-media presentations
  • Methods and techniques of lighting, sound and video presentations
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of video production
  • Operational characteristics of standard and complex video production equipment and materials
  • Recent developments, current literature and information related to video production, multi-media, online-content and social media usage
  • Information Technologies and content management systems
  • Television graphics, operation, creative design and manage graphical information
  • Modern office equipment including computers
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of video and/or stage productions
  • Manage and coordinate the planning, production and operation of video production activities and projects
  • Supervise, organize, and review the work of lower level staff
  • Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
  • Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
  • Interpret written instructions including stage and light plots
  • Understand broadcasting principles and practices
  • Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Assist in the technical maintenance of stage equipment
  • Research, analyze and recommend acquisition of video, audio, and multi-media equipment
  • Strategize and create marketing and promotions plans and campaigns for cable channel & other City departments
  • Develop and administer conventional and web based social media informational programs
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
  • Prepare clear and concise reports
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public
