Oak Lodge and Gladstone Libraries are part of the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) under Community Services. We are seeking a committed, self-driven, enthusiastic, and service-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as a Youth Services Librarian (classified as Librarian 1) at the Clackamas County Oak Lodge and Gladstone Libraries. The new Gladstone Library is now open and the Oak Lodge Library is opening to the public on October 6, 2025.

We are committed to providing direct public library services to the Oak Lodge and Gladstone communities within the LINCC consortium. This is an exciting opportunity to reimagine and grow programs and services for youth and families in two brand-new library spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide innovative youth programming and cultivate relationships through outreach for various youth programs offered by the Library.
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate the summer reading program.
  • Provide collection development, adult reference, and circulation services as part of the role.
  • Participate in outreach and programming in two new library spaces to support youth, families, and the community.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Master’s degree in Library Information Systems (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a public library as a Youth Librarian.
  • Experience planning and providing youth programming and outreach in a public library.
  • Youth and adult reference experience; circulation experience.
  • Experience using the Symphony library software system.
  • Experience interpreting and applying rules and standards of the County library system and the LINCC consortium.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Criminal history check (may include national or state fingerprints).
  • Post-offer physical assessment; accommodation requests reviewed per state and federal law.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive for County business; maintain acceptable driving record.

Working Conditions & Schedule

  • Physical duties include walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 35 pounds, and exposure to dust and odors.
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Tuesday–Saturday; on-site work location required.
