Job Summary

This position provides patron service and administrative support for library operations. This is a part-time position, up to 19 hours per week. The minimum hourly rate is $15.67.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patrons – 60%
    • Performs circulation desk duties; checks materials in and out; registers patrons.
    • Collects payments for lost or damaged items; updates patron records accordingly.
    • Answers routine inquiries and refers patrons for reference assistance; answers directional questions and refers patrons to appropriate personnel.
    • Answers telephone calls; provides information and assistance; refers callers to appropriate personnel.
    • Assists and instructs patrons in the use of the print management system and reference resources.
    • Adds and removes Banner holds on student accounts; assists patrons in the use of the presentation lab.
  • Provides administrative support for library operations – 20%
    • Responsible for taking payments for various library fees.
    • Maintains monthly statistics in area of responsibility.
    • Completes a variety of regular and special reports.
  • Assists with library programming – 10%
    • Assists in the planning and coordination of library programming.
    • Develops library displays and signage for events.
  • Performs a variety of related duties – 10%
    • Sorts and shelves books; reads and straightens shelves.
    • Recommends changes to library policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Associate's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: More than two years of related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in libraries with automated catalog system and audio/video editing programs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of library operations and procedures; knowledge of college policies and procedures; knowledge of customer service principles and practices; knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations, oral and written communication, and providing quality customer service.
