Position: K-8 Music Teacher (Strings)

Location: Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, Malden, MA

Type: Full-Time, 11-Month Position

Position Overview

This role involves delivering high-quality, engaging instruction in foundational music concepts, with a strong emphasis on string instruments. The ideal candidate will inspire students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 to explore their musical abilities, foster artistic expression, and contribute to performance-based learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deliver dynamic, objective-driven lessons that foster musical growth, technical skill, and creativity
• Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback through progress reports and report cards
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Specials Department and school leadership to ensure curriculum continuity and program quality
• Support and lead student performances, concerts, and other school-wide musical events
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director

Qualifications

• Experience teaching music and/or conducting string ensembles
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Demonstrated passion for strings music education and student development
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to performance excellence and continuous instructional improvement
• Familiarity with state and federal education regulations and school policies
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

Additional Information

• This is a full-time, 11-month teaching position
• Subject to annual performance evaluation
