Position Overview

As a R2R SAP Solution Designer, you will have the opportunity to drive and deliver innovative capabilities with industry leading practices and products. This role will provide functional and technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and evaluating requirements for corporate applications. Corporate applications include ERP Financial systems that includes GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets/Projects, Interfaces to banking and other systems. Need to lead /coordinate cross-functional teams to address the systems, issues, and strong initiative to learn new systems.

This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Lisle, IL.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as SAP FICO Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing hands-on configuration expertise across core modules including SAP GL, AP, AR, FA, Bank Accounting, FSCM (Treasury), CCA, PCA, Material Ledger, COPA, and Concur.
  • Lead the design and definition of organizational structures and chart of accounts within SAP, translating business requirements into scalable system specifications to support both current and future financial needs.
  • Drive the implementation, upgrade, and ongoing enhancement of SAP FICO systems, with a strong emphasis on S/4HANA functionalities such as New GL, Fixed Assets, Group Reporting, and Project Systems.
  • Manage and support full software development lifecycle activities and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid), including business requirements gathering, system design and configuration, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Integrate SAP FICO modules with other SAP modules including MM, PP, SD, and PS, ensuring seamless end-to-end business process execution.
  • Oversee finance-related month-end and year-end closing processes, and ensure compliance with GAAP, FCC, and IFRS standards, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidations.
  • Design, configure, and support banking interfaces such as Electronic Bank Statements (EBS), ACH, WIRE, Check payments, positive pay files, credit card processes, and cash applications.
  • Provide configuration and functional expertise in project settlement to fixed assets, including WBS, networks, activities, scheduling, CATS, resource-related billing, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Develop functional specifications for custom ABAP developments (reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms), and collaborate with technical teams for delivery.
  • Lead R2R (Record to Report) functions as a senior functional lead, with responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance.
  • Coordinate and document project go-live activities, provide post-go-live support, and ensure user training, adoption, and transition into business-as-usual operations.
  • Plan and manage system enhancements, upgrades, and patching activities within SAP ecosystem, ensuring adherence to best practices in governance, risk, and compliance (e.g., SOX).
  • Support internal and external audit processes by ensuring proper financial controls and documentation, and responding to audit requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate closely with business users and IT teams to gather business needs and transform them into efficient and effective SAP system solutions.
  • Prepare and present solution designs and business cases using advanced analytical tools and presentation platforms such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Create business process diagrams and documentation including process flows, business process procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and maintain custom queries and SQL extracts to support reporting and operational data needs.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to junior team members, providing knowledge transfer and support on SAP FICO functionality and business process best practices.
  • Lead functional teams and cross-functional projects, establishing standards and serving as a resource for best practices and quality assurance.
  • Champion change management initiatives by supporting business users during transitions to new systems and processes, encouraging adoption and process optimization.
  • Operate effectively in high-pressure environments by prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects, and collaborating across diverse business and IT teams.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 12 years of experience analyzing, designing, evaluating, modifying, testing and implementing enterprise-wide systems or business experience using ERP applications
  • At least 2 years lead experience

  • Master's degree
  • At least 8 years of experience analyzing, designing, evaluating, modifying, testing and implementing enterprise-wide systems or business experience using ERP applications
  • At least 2 years lead experience

  • At least 14 years of experience analyzing, designing, evaluating, modifying, testing and implementing enterprise-wide systems or business experience using ERP applications

Desired Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in SAP FICO environments with deep expertise in software development lifecycle management and project delivery methodologies.
  • 3+ years of professional experience supporting Finance and/or Accounting functions.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SAP FI/CO with hands-on configuration experience in:
    • General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets (FA), Bank Accounting, FSCM (Treasury), Cost Center Accounting (CCA), Profit Center Accounting (PCA), Material Ledger, COPA, and Concur.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA including experience with:
    • New GL, Fixed Assets, Group Reporting, and Project System functionalities.
  • Proven experience designing and configuring:
    • Organizational structures, chart of accounts, and multi-ledger financial processes to align with evolving business needs.
  • Solid understanding of SAP Banking Interfaces:
    • Electronic Bank Statements (EBS), ACH, Wire, Check payments, Positive Pay, Cash Applications, and Credit Card integrations.
  • Expertise in project-related financials:
    • Project settlement to fixed assets, WBS design, networks, activities, scheduling, CATS, resource-related billing, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Proficient in FICO month-end closing activities and financial consolidations.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards including GAAP, FCC, and IFRS; experience with intercompany transactions and eliminations.
  • Skilled in integrating SAP FICO with other SAP modules such as MM, PP, SD, and PS.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with SAP S/4HANA and at least 3 years as a Record-to-Report (R2R) functional lead.
  • Strong background in creating detailed functional specifications for ABAP developments (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms).
  • Advanced capabilities in designing and implementing scalable systems/application solutions.
  • Proficient in business requirements gathering, solution design, system configuration, user acceptance testing, and documentation.
  • Experience developing business process diagrams and process documentation.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated success working in collaborative, cross-functional, team-based settings.
  • Full lifecycle SAP implementation experience with Hybrid, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Deep knowledge of change management and the ability to support organizations through system/process transitions.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining SQL queries, reports, and data extracts.
  • Skilled in mentoring, training, and guiding junior team members or less experienced colleagues.
  • Strong leadership in establishing best practices, governance, and quality assurance across functional teams.
