Overview
The Media Planner supports the development of effective, innovative, and strategic solutions and is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of approved media plans. Reports directly to the Media Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Produces work that delivers on client goals and gains industry recognition for its creativity and results. Seeks and creates opportunities in media choice and usage to increase visibility and impact.
- Maintains day-to-day management of assigned accounts (billing issues, budget revisions, flowchart updates, competitive analyses, post-buy analyses, etc.). Maintains detailed records. Monitors media agreements and contracts with outside media vendors.
- Contributes to the development and direction of media strategies and POVs. Conducts media research, brainstorms, evaluates data, and develops points of view. Understands various media and their applications against client strategies and goals.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the client’s business (market share, priorities, key competitor strategies, etc.).
- Communicates effectively with the Media Supervisor, flagging and elevating any concerns as needed.
Vendor & Media Evaluation
- Owns communication with internal teams and external resources to gather and negotiate costs and plan details. Evaluates partners for relevance to client goals.
- Evaluates inventory against audience segments for media vehicles to determine reach for target audiences.
- Studies demographic data to identify desired online audiences.
- Calculates campaign forecast, reach, and frequency for potential media vehicles.
- Stays informed of key media developments and trends.
- Maintains relationships with media vendors to ensure positive representation of Noble People.
Campaign Execution & Maintenance
- Monitors campaign timelines, authorizations, vendor paperwork, and delivery of assets to vendors.
- Prepares insertion orders and placements with media vehicles.
- Uses external data to analyze campaigns for optimizations, planning, and buying decisions.
- Implements and analyzes digital campaigns using a third-party ad server.
- Monitors pacing, delivery, placement, and flight-date discrepancies; negotiates adjustments when necessary.
- Mentors and assists Assistant Media Planners to grow their knowledge and skills.
Requirements
- At least 1.5 years of experience as a Media Planner in a creative media agency with hands-on digital planning including buying, implementation, analytics, and optimization.
- Experience managing an Assistant Media Planner is preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to present media plans concisely and persuasively to clients.
- Proven track record of sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with employees, vendors, and clients.
- Solid command of media research resources and capabilities.
- Demonstrated confidence in championing innovative and bold ideas.
- Analytical thinker with solid media math and strategy development skills.
- Understanding of consumer insights and how to apply them to campaigns.
- Strong attention to detail.
