Job Description
The NBC News Decision Desk is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Specialist to support its Elections unit, which provides critical analysis and data to all NBCUniversal platforms during primary and general elections. This role is ideal for someone passionate about politics, data, and broadcast journalism, and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. The Specialist will play a key role in preparing for election nights, maintaining essential resources, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis to support election-night decision-making.
- Test proprietary election systems and graphics used across NBCUniversal platforms.
- Assist with outreach to state and local election officials to support planning and voter turnout initiatives, including Plan Your Vote.
- Maintain shared documents and spreadsheets with key election data, schedules, race notes, and administrative rules.
- Coordinate with political campaigns to obtain headshots and other on-air materials.
- Support ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Decision Desk team to prepare presentations and reports for internal meetings and executive briefings.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling, travel arrangements, expense reports, and supply orders.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a research or administrative role, preferably supporting a team in a television news or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of and interest in U.S. politics, elections, and current events.
- Proficiency in Excel and other spreadsheet tools for organizing data, performing basic analysis, and creating charts or tables.
- Skilled in creating visually compelling presentations that clearly communicate complex information.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Must be a proactive self-starter comfortable handling ad hoc projects and shifting priorities.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights, under tight deadlines, sometimes with little or no notice.
- Must be based in or willing to work from Philadelphia, PA, with occasional travel to NBC offices in New York.

- Enthusiasm for innovation and improving workflows through technology or process enhancements.
Additional Requirements: Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing
from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
