The Senior User Experience Designer will be on concepting product user interface design solutions for Surgical Robot's that align with surgeons’ and surgical staff’s expectations and abilities, with a particular eye towards safety and ease of use. Specifically, this in this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and/or improving user experience reducing usability risks for patients and surgical staff, improving usability workflows, and adhering to our brand guidelines.
- Defining the Digital User Interface, implementing the Surgical Operating Unit’s Design system for complex medical devices in the Surgical Operating Unit’s product portfolio.
- Participating in research activities to identify user needs/requirements and translating those findings, insights into design solutions.
- Participating in decision making on product features and functionality partnering with Product Management, Engineering and the Research & Technology teams.
- Working with agile teams to collaborate closely with software engineers, copywriters and UX designers.
- Participating in concept definition for new products and platforms using “systems thinking” and user centered design methodologies.
- Conceptualizing and visualizing product designs and physical interactions using Figma, mocking up digital prototypes using Figma or Principal.
- Creating, and improving wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, as well as effectively communicating your interaction ideas using Figma, Miro and PowerPoint.
- Creating detailed final design documentation and support for software engineering handoffs and for design requirements within other shared platforms (Jama, Jira, etc.)
- Developing ideas based on design thinking, user research, heuristic principles, and accessibility standards.

- Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving, technical judgement, leadership, and interpersonal skills are required to communicate both written and verbally with a range of functions including, but not limited to R&D, Marketing, Engineering, and Systems
- Effectively visually present, communicate, socialize and workshop design vision, research needs, concepts as well as detailed designs both verbally and visually in Miro, and Figma as well as other Microsoft office products.
- A bonus is to be familiar with relevant quality regulations (21 CFR Part 820.30), human factors/usability engineering standards (IEC 62366-1, ANSI HE75), risk management (ISO 14971), and FDA guidance.
