Art (3-D Design/Sculpture/Glass Emphasis) Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)
Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments in the Art (3-D Design/Sculpture/Glass Emphasis) area. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses and may be in-person, online or hybrid. Applications are accepted year-round and will remain in the pool for two years.
Overview
Position type: Part-Time Temporary. Division: Arts and Social Sciences. Location: Fremont Campus - Newark Center - and/or eCampus. Bargaining Unit: United Faculty of Ohlone (UFO). Job Number: 202300102.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach 3-D Design/Sculpture/Glass classes in accordance with post-secondary level established course outlines.
- Evaluate student work using clear criteria and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain and submit accurate records (grades, syllabi, attendance, etc.) by published deadlines.
- Create an equity-based and welcoming classroom environment.
- Perform duties consistent with Board policy, the UFO contract, Faculty Handbook, and assignments at distributed campuses or online via eCampus.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's in fine arts, art, or art history; OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND master's in humanities; OR the equivalent; AND
- Commitment to community college goals/objectives related to equity and student success; ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment; awareness of non-traditional and diverse student needs; AND
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds and equity-minded practices (see detailed note in original posting).
Note: Master’s in Fine Arts refers to a master’s degree in the subject matter of fine arts (visual arts) and does not refer to the MFA degree when focused on performing arts or non-visual arts. See minimum qualification details in the original posting.
Desirable Qualifications
- Community college teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with innovative teaching methods and inclusive pedagogical practices.
- Experience using course management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) and technology-enabled teaching.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to work effectively in a team.
