Purdue University – West Lafayette, IN is seeking an experienced event planning professional to join Purdue Conferences in a senior role that defines standards of excellence university-wide. As a Senior Event Planner, you will plan and execute a diverse roster of complex programs and events, delivering exceptional value and memorable experiences to clients, while setting the bar for customer service and team performance at Purdue.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the planning and execution of high-profile, multi-faceted programs and events across the Purdue community, ensuring every detail reflects the Boilermaker spirit and a commitment to quality
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for lower-level Event Planners, modeling best practices and providing expert guidance in all aspects of event planning and delivery
  • Champion Purdue Conferences’ value proposition by ensuring value, service, and outstanding customer experience in every engagement
  • Build and maintain productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including campus units and community vendors, to expand Purdue’s reach and reputation
  • Set the standard for the event planning team through your leadership, client service, and partnership approach

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated success planning and managing large-scale, complex events in a university, hospitality, or corporate setting
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capability, with experience coaching junior team members
  • Passion for customer service and a commitment to exceeding expectations
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a talent for building relationships on and off campus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work within a team environment and collaborate
  • Ability to create, manage and close project budgets

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Four (4) years in hospitality industry
  • A Valid Driver’s license is required

Skills Needed

  • Excellent project management skills are essential
  • Attention to detail, multi-tasking and ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Work with diverse clients to design their vision and produce exceptional conferences which meet those expectations
  • Effective oral and written communication and computer skills are required
  • Evening, weekend and travel are required for this position
  • Ability to work within a team environment and collaborate
  • Create, manage and close project budgets

Preferred

  • Knowledge of the University organization, policies, procedures, and regulations
