Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.
- An appropriate combination of education and experience might substitute for the required degree.

Special Conditions / Work schedule
- This is a full-time permanent position requiring a 37.5-hour work week.
- Primary work schedule: Monday through Friday 9:30am – 6:00pm with some flexibility for remote work and schedule modifications.
- During academic breaks and interim periods when the University Libraries maintains a shorter schedule, the work schedule will be modified accordingly.

Working conditions
- Regularly sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk or hear; frequently walk; occasionally stand, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; vision abilities include close vision.
Additional working conditions
The position has an extensive public service component and requires the ability to communicate with diverse constituents in written, verbal, and auditory formats. The employee must navigate the campus independently and may need to lift up to 30 pounds and push/pull wheeled book trucks up to 300 pounds when full. May climb ladders or work around furnishings and equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be requested.

Supervision
- Supervises student employees assigned to the Department, volunteers, or interns, especially during evening and weekend hours. Trains and supervises other staff and students as directed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Experience assisting users in a customer-service environment, preferably in an academic library.
- Familiarity with a variety of print and electronic reference tools, including web-based resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; good interpersonal skills; knowledge of library procedures and policies.
- Skill in understanding, interpreting, and following directions; experience with databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and web authoring software.
- Good judgment, problem-solving skills; willingness to learn; ability to work independently; adaptability to organizational change; knowing when to refer matters to higher authority.
