Full Time Salary Range: $69,038.00 - $100,105.00

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

MISSION STATEMENT

The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. Together our courts and probation departments are committed to impartial and timely dispute resolution; support for families, litigants, and victims; client rehabilitation; and meaningful community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional realtime reporting and transcribing for court proceedings, hearings and conferences.
  • Maintains records and prioritizes transcript production; prepares required reports and documentation pursuant to Chief Justice Directive 05-03 and local policies and procedures.
  • Ensures backup of all stenographic notes, rough drafts, and completed transcripts including reporter dictionaries, CAT software files, and stenographic machine files.
  • Assists team members, works on various hearings and/or trials as a team, shares files and work product, and attends weekly meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience Equivalency: Associate's degree or 2 years of college; or substitution of additional work experience in related fields on a year-for-year basis.
  • Work Related Experience: 1 to 3 years of court reporting experience.
  • Licenses And Certifications: RPR certification through the NCRA plus meet national standard for Realtime (96% accuracy on one of the applicable exams).

Essential Functions Cont.

  • Essential functions include providing real-time, verbatim court reporting services through stenographic shorthand for jury trials, preliminary hearings, motions hearings, and other applicable proceedings.
  • Work involves managing and maintaining records, and ensuring transcript production meets standards.

Work Environment

Work environment: Office or similar indoor environment; good; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Physical Effort: Medium work – exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Exposures

Exposures may include hostile or irate individuals; individuals with known violent backgrounds.
