UI Health - Staff Nurse I - 7E General Inpatient Medicine (Flex Nights, 90% Part-Time) is a nursing position with rotating weekends and a flex night schedule. This posting includes details on department, location, compensation considerations, and application requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family.
  • Collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care and shares information with team members.
  • Verifies and implements orders from physicians/advanced practice providers and documents interventions in the electronic medical record.
  • Engages with patients and families to develop an appropriate educational plan and responds to changing patient needs.
  • Delegates appropriate tasks to support personnel per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
  • Advocates for patients, families, and communities; integrates theory, evidence-based practice, and current standards of nursing care.
  • Assumes the role of Charge Nurse when assigned and collaborates to provide learning experiences for staff and students.
  • Acts as a preceptor or resource to nursing and support staff and participates in professional development and special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and participates in related duties and projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) for therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn and use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
