Duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Process library materials for customers, including check-in and check-out procedures.
- Register new customers (borrowers) in accordance with established protocols.
- Explain and enforce library policies and procedures.
- Provide information and answer questions from the public regarding library rules, including fines, fees, and material location.
- Operate office equipment and perform other incidental duties in a small office setting.
- Assist in shelving and moving materials.
- Prepare and process outgoing and incoming delivery shipments as needed, including packing and unpacking.
- Provide support for various tasks and special projects, as needed.
Requirements to Qualify: Three (3) months' experience in a public customer-facing role, such as sales, food service, reception, or a similar position involving direct interaction in person, by phone, or online.
Age: At least 18 years of age.
Physical Class III - Moderate: This class requires standing or walking most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Successful completion of one or more accredited college or university courses in Library Technology or Library Science.
- Experience supporting the daily operations of a public library by performing tasks such as sorting and arranging books and other materials; serving library customers; maintaining supplies; inspecting books and materials for cleanliness and/or repairs; setting up library premises for special events, programs, and meetings; assisting with facility opening and closing procedures; maintaining the overall orderliness of library facilities.
Special Requirement Information: No Out-Of-Class or Withholds are allowed for this examination. Required experience must be met at the time of application filing.

Our Assessment Process: The assessment will consist of a Training & Experience evaluation weighted 100%. You will answer questions related to the assessment in the supplemental questionnaire. Your responses will be evaluated.
Eligibility Information: A standardized scoring system is used to assign scores. The passing score is 70%. Successful candidates are placed on a list for twelve (12) months.

Available Shift: Flexible schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week, typically in 4-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
