The Team Member We Are Looking For
We are seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join us as Library Associates in the East County Area. This temporary part-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to an innovative library system and make a meaningful impact on the community.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes library materials for customers, including check-in and check-out procedures.
- Registers new customers (borrowers) in accordance with established specialized protocols.
- Explains and enforces library policies and procedures.
- Provides information and answers questions from the public regarding library rules, fines, fees, and material locations.
- Operates office equipment, including computers, and performs other incidental duties in a small office setting.
- Assists in shelving and moving materials.
- Prepares and processes outgoing and incoming delivery shipments as needed, including packing and unpacking.
- Provides support for various tasks and special projects, as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Requirements to Qualify: Three (3) months of experience in a public customer-facing role (e.g., sales, food service, reception) involving direct interaction in person, by phone, or online.
- Age: At least 18 years of age.
- Physical Class III - Moderate: Standing or walking most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, and occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds; frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
- Desirable Qualifications: One or more accredited college or university course(s) in Library Technology or Library Science; experience supporting daily public library operations (sorting and arranging materials, serving customers, maintaining supplies, inspecting materials, assisting with events, and facility procedures).
Special Information: No Out-Of-Class or Withholds are allowed for this examination. Required experience must be met at the time of application filing.

Assessment and Eligibility
Our Assessment Process: The assessment consists of a Training & Experience (T&E) evaluation weighted 100%. You will answer questions in the supplemental questionnaire section as part of your application.
Eligibility Information: A standardized scoring system assigns scores; a passing score is 70%. Successful candidates are placed on a list for twelve (12) months.
Special Information
Available Shift: Flexible schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week, typically in 4-hour shifts, which may include evenings, nights, and weekends.
Vacancy Information: The list of successful candidates will be used to fill temporary/part-time vacancies within the East County libraries, locations listed in the posting.
