Purpose of Volunteer Position: The Grant Writer will be responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to research, write, prepare, submit, and report on grant proposals to foundations, corporations, public founders, and other grant-making organizations.

Number of hours: 10+ hours per month

Reports to: Board of Directors

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Write and submit grant proposals, fundraising-related writing projects, and reports as specifically discussed
Work proactively with other PPCM volunteers/board members to adhere to all programmatic and fiscal reporting

requirements stipulated in grants.

Project manage proposals with board/volunteers/Executive Director, ensuring that all aspects of an

application are complete, organized, and flow together in a cohesive manner aligned with PPCM

standards.

Ensure seamless and timely process for all tasks, communication and reports related to the grant

process, including letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and stewardship activities.

Maintain clear and accurate written and electronic records of grant proposals and reports,

including grant activity tracking in shared drives and databases.

Critically assess RFPs and determine which program(s) and partnerships align to respond to the

RFP.

Deeply understand the PPCM’s programs, goals, and financial needs in order to develop compelling proposals, seek new funding opportunities, and report on funding impact.

Volunteer Requirements/Working Conditions:

Can work remotely and independently
Understand and promote PPCM’s mission
Be an ambassador for PPCM
Help to educate the community about PPCM

Recommended Volunteer Qualifications:

At least 21 years old
Must reside in the Pikes Peak region
Three years or more of grant writing or related work experience in fundraising or writing experience in the areas of social services/ humanitarian/ development programming, or anequivalent combination of education and experience.
Understand the grant lifecycle process and knowledge of grant writing (craft, construct, and submit an effective grant application) and grant making techniques, current trends, and best practices.
Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to plan, organize, and complete multiple grant proposals, projects, tasks and/or reports, meet deadlines and follow-up as required.
Excellent attention to detail and strong computer skills.
Exceptional ability to edit written materials accurately and consistently, including own work.

Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP) delivers integrated services that address the basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing, while also providing strengthening services that connect households to affordable housing, quality childcare, employment, and more. The IOCP Grant Writer/Research volunteer will assist in writing entry level grants along with letters of introduction. They will also assist with grant research through Grantstation and other web tools, to identify and vet potential grants to help support IOCP’s work.

Key Responsibilities:

Draft and write compelling letters of introduction and entry level grant applications
Conduct research to identify new grant opportunities that align with IOCP’s mission and work
Review grant information and determine which grants are a good match for IOCP
Track volunteer hours monthly and report on IOCP’s online volunteer system

Qualifications:

Exceptional written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and concisely
Ability to edit existing content to fit unique grant application guidelines
Comfortable using technology and ability to work in and navigate the internet, Microsoft Office and/or Google suite

Grant Writer (Volunteer)

StandUp for Kids - San Diego was launched in 1990 with a single focus: to end the cycle of youth homelessness in our community. We work to provide basic needs, housing, mentoring support, care, and love to at-risk and homeless youth ages 12-24.

We are looking for a Volunteer Grant Writer to work in conjunction with the Executive Director to increase our grant writing efforts for competitive corporate, foundation and government awards. This is a great opportunity to donate time, resources, and talent to support our important mission.

As a Grant Writer, you will:

· Develop and write letters of inquiry and proposals in response to solicitations for our state and county that include but are not limited to city, state, and federal agencies as well as private foundations

· Manage full range of the grants processes with the Grants Chair including identification/qualification of opportunities, development of responses and financial reports

· Take an active role in the identification of private funders and in the research and development of grant proposals to foundations and corporations that have potential to support new and ongoing program initiatives

· Prepare customized proposals according to each foundation’s guidelines, including: program budgets, timelines, goals, objectives, outcomes, and evaluation criteria for grants with the Executive director and Grants Chair

· Assist Grants Chair with researching foundations

· Organize standard attachments including but not limited to the organization’s Board of Directors list, bylaws, 501(c)(3) letter of determination, and most recent financial audit

· Work with the Executive Director and program staff to produce funder reports in a timely and effective fashion

· Assist the Executive Director in maintaining a strong and positive relationship with current and prospective grant funders through letter, email and phone correspondence

· Work with staff to gain insight into local foundations and to gather local data/information about individual communities

Qualifications:

· Grant writing experience preferred but not required

· Knowledge of non-profit funding sources preferred but not required

· Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to plan/manage work flow on multiple projects simultaneously, and work with limited supervision

· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

· Proofreading skills essential

· Strong attention to detail

· Flexible and strong work ethic

· Desire to make a difference and be part of a unique not-profit organization

Job Type:

· Volunteer position

· Remote, with occasional in-person events and/or meetings (Covid-19 safety protocols apply)

Time Commitment:

· Minimum 5 hours per week (volunteers are responsible for tracking their hours and sending them to the Executive Director at the end of each month)
