Position Details:

The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication is establishing a continuous applicant pool for adjunct faculty positions to teach in-person undergraduate courses. This posting will remain open until December 31, 2025.

Adjunct faculty may hold positions with other employers and are appointed temporarily to WSU faculty positions. These are typically fixed-term appointments providing instruction for traditional semester-long courses over 4.5 months (Spring semester). As an adjunct faculty member, your primary focus will be teaching, including large enrollment lower-division courses and upper-division courses.

Instruction may occur during day, afternoon, evening, and/or weekend hours. The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment beyond the semester course assignment or any assigned hourly or substitute work.

Additional Information:

Annual Salary: $25,000 - $50,000 | (100% FTE). Salary to be pro-rated based upon course credits and type of instruction. Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Successful candidates must demonstrate flexibility in achieving instructional and general course responsibilities, including proficiency with diverse learning resources and technologies.

Core Faculty Responsibilities

  • Teach communication courses as assigned.
  • Evaluate and assess student work with timely grade submission.
  • Participate in performance assessments, including administrative and student evaluations.
  • Engage in campus and staff development activities (encouraged).
  • Contribute to the broader College community.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field OR bachelor's degree with significant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience or potential for teaching with student-centered pedagogical practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues in both written and verbal formats.
