Job Title: Information Services Assistant Supervisor

Work Hours: Varies
Expected Starting Hourly Range: $25.56 - $31.95
This classification performs a variety of technical/professional/supervisory duties in the Manatee County Public Library System. Supervision is exercised over library staff. Work involves working both with the public and behind the scenes, handling branch and/or section responsibilities.
Working Conditions: Indoor/Office situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 25 lbs. alone; up to 50 lbs. with assistance. May require working at a computer for extended periods of time.

Area of Assignment: Information Services Assistant Supervisor. This position supports the Information Services section at Central Library, acting as assistant supervisor of Information Services, and will be called upon to supervise staff members and library volunteers as needed.
- Maintains awareness of library service trends and information sources, with emphasis on reference, business, workforce development and historical preservation.
- Must possess the ability to work with clientele of various socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Provides reference, technology and database support to the public and to county staff.
- Assists in facilities management; staff scheduling; public and staff programming; outreach; displays; and emergency operations duties as assigned.
- Acts as site coordinator for the virtual reference service Ask a Librarian.
- Collaborates with library and county administration, and partners with community members and organizations.
- Serves on county and library committees as directed.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in library science from a university or college accredited by the American Library Association. Verifiable experience in customer service, people management, facilities management, technology use, and training may be considered in lieu of education, depending on the area of assignment.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience, or one (1) year demonstrated experience overseeing projects or departmental functions, including task delegation and accountability.
- Valid driver license required, with valid Florida driver license required within 30 days of hire.
