Job Description: Plan, organize, direct, execute, train, develop and evaluate the music ministry for the entire church at Woodridge Baptist Church.
Relationships
- TO GOD: A man who has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and has been called by God into this ministry.
- TO the Church: He and his family will become faithful members of Woodridge Baptist Church. He will at all times seek God’s direction and the pastor’s guidance in caring for the spiritual well-being of the congregation.
- TO the Church Staff: He will work in harmony and coordination with other church staff and lay leaders.
Responsibilities
- Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and education of a comprehensive music ministry of the NextGen choirs, as well as the adult music ministries.
- Support the Senior Pastor and collaborate with other pastoral staff members to promote the vision and ministry direction of the church
- Assist other associate pastors in planning Sunday worship services, church-wide celebrations, seasonal programs and events; be responsible for the selection of worship music and personnel
- Responsible for caring, overseeing, recruiting, training and deployment of Music Ministry personnel
- Lead the Music Ministry Team to determine the goal, direction, organization, program, and annual budget of Music Ministry
- Stay informed on current music methods, materials, promotions, and administration.
- Assign worship/song leaders, worship teams, and instrumentalists for worship services, church-wide gatherings and church prayer meetings
- Responsible for Music Ministry administration, copyright of songs, purchase and maintenance of music, music literature, musical instruments, equipment, and other supplies
- Oversee, coordinate/direct all church choirs, musical groups, and orchestra
- Oversee and supervise paid music personnel and volunteers
- Attend Pastoral staff meetings, and any other meetings designated by the Senior Pastor.
- Maintain regular working hours; comply with church policies and procedures
- Conduct prospect visits, ministry visits, hospital visitation, and other needs specific to the designated ministry, including visits assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Attend all services, outreach, special events, and any other church activities planned on the calendar.
- Responsible for development and execution of outreach through the music ministry.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (advanced degree and seminary degree preferred but not required)
- Experience in church planning, strategy and financial oversight
- Substantive music leadership experience
- Proficiency in vocal skills
- Ability to train music personnel
- Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills
- Works with individuals and groups as a team player
- Handles problems and conflicts with sound discernment
- Proactive in resolving issues and conflicts
- Personable, approachable, and available
- Compassionate and caring for believers and non-believers
- Encouraging and supportive

- Pastors are expected to tithe.
- Pastors and families should be involved in the church Life Group program.
Reporting Relationship: The Pastor of Music Ministries is accountable to the church body and the Personnel Team, directly reporting to the Senior Pastor.
