Job Summary
The University of West Georgia is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the Writing Center. The responsibilities for this position include tutoring enrolled students in the craft of writing, collaboration on promotional materials and event planning, and administrative duties.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing and a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. They must be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG, enrolled full-time, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework.
Responsibilities
- Tutoring enrolled students in the craft of writing (40%)
- Collaboration on promotional materials, social media, and event planning/execution (20%)
- Administrative duties (40%)
Requirements
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Detailed knowledge and competence in MLA and/or APA style
- Experience with bilingual or multilingual learners
- An earned ‘A’ in ENGL 1101 and ENGL 1102 (or their equivalents)
