Job Summary

  • Demonstrate leadership with overseeing day-to-day operations of the radio station including on-air shows and talent, events/remotes, equipment, organization of station.
  • Display an understanding of current tools and technology in the industry to train students for shows and podcasts including Board, Recording, WideOrbit, LIVE Copy, and other items as needed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of professional ethical principles and work ethically in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness, and diversity through regular and timely scheduling of the station.
  • Display work ethic by ensuring shows and podcasts elements are inserted into the system in a timely manner, including Live Copy.
  • Collaborate with General Manager and Operations Manager to conduct research and evaluate data to better the stations on air schedules.
  • Think critically, creatively, and independently to develop ideas for programs and features that a station could produce.
  • Exhibit teamwork in collaborating with Public Relations Director, Remote Coordinator, and Content Marketing Director to plan/execute station and live show events.
  • Critically evaluate the work of yourself and others through listening to on air entities for quality issues.
  • Practice written and oral communication to provide feedback to on air entities.
  • Apply basic numerical and statistical concepts to gather station listenership analytics.
  • Attend or lead any staff leadership & job skill enhancement training.
  • Maintain professionalism in overseeing other station members in regards to their duties and responsibilities.
  • Apply current tools and technologies to assist with station remotes and events.
  • Utilize teamwork and leadership to train and mentor staff and volunteers.
  • Adhere to all Policy and Procedures.
  • Report any and all violations to GM and OM.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average.
  • All students must have completed one or more of the following courses:
    • In house WIT Training Course.
    • COMM 3351- Radio Program Production.
    • COMM-3352 - Fundamentals of Television Production.
    • COMM-3353 - Fundamentals of Film & Video Production.
    • COMM 4421- Radio Practicum.
    • COMM 4485 - Sports Communication.
    • COMM-3354 - Digital Social Media & Society.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled with Adobe Audition.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various classrooms and events needs.
