Primary Purpose
Maintains communications support, information management and communications control for the NSU Campuses as well as the NSU Regional Campuses. Assumes responsibility for the detection and prevention of safety and security hazards. Responsible for centralized operation and monitoring of integrated access control system for the NSU Campuses as well as the NSU Regional Campuses.
Essential Job Functions
- Follows departmental guidelines on customer service to ensure quality customer service is provided to internal and external stakeholders.
- Promptly answers to requests consistent with Public Safety standards to ensure a timely customer service experience.
- Monitors and promptly responds to alarms for NSU properties and responds to ensure safety of NSU community.
- Conducts accurate and timely investigations using electronic resources in support of crime prevention and risk management to ensure a safe campus.
- Uses surveillance methods to identify suspicious activity and respond accordingly to ensure a safe NSU environment.
- Creates and maintains records of calls received to ensure accurate logging.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work any day and on any shift, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
- May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
- May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils and computer keyboards.
Required Certifications/Licensures
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Experience: One (1) or more years Customer Service, Administrative, police dispatch or call center experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous dispatch center experience.
- Typing more than 30 words per minute.
- Previous surveillance control experience.
- Previous electronic access control experience.
- Previous alarm monitoring experience.
