Primary Purpose
Maintains communications support, information management, and communications control for NSU campuses and Student Educational Centers. Responsible for detection and prevention of safety and security hazards. Oversees centralized operation and monitoring of the integrated access control system for NSU campuses and Student Educational Centers.
Essential Job Functions
- Follows departmental guidelines on customer service to provide quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Responds to requests promptly in accordance with Public Safety standards to ensure timely service.
- Monitors and responds to alarms for NSU properties to ensure campus safety.
- Conducts accurate investigations using electronic resources to support crime prevention and risk management.
- Uses surveillance methods to identify suspicious activity and respond appropriately.
- Creates and maintains records of calls received to ensure accurate logging.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work any day and on any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage conflicts; work under pressure with professionalism.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); data entry and typing skills; Internet research abilities.
- Ability to enter and verify information accurately and understand oral and written instructions.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- May involve sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
- May require using various equipment, including computers and peripherals.
Education and Experience
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Experience: One (1) year or more of Customer Service, Administrative, police dispatch, or call center experience.
Certifications / Licenses
Background screening required. Is this a safety sensitive position? Yes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous dispatch center experience.
- Typing more than 30 words per minute.
- Previous surveillance control and electronic access control experience.
- Previous alarm monitoring experience.
