The Basic Function of the Adjunct Faculty Member is to provide academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair or Program Director.

Representative Duties

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses
• Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills
• Evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes
• Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes
• Select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty

Knowledge Of

• Current theory and practice within the subject discipline
• Principles and best practices of effective teaching

Ability To

• Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge in the subject field or discipline
• Deliver course curricula in various learning styles
• Exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of University students
• Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent experience and professional recognition.

Working Environment: Indoor classroom environment; subject to visiting a variety of classroom sites on campus.

: $32-$34.50 an hour
