Overview

Technical Editor position supports multiple project offices within Program Executive Office (PEO) Missile and Space (M&S). Duties include writing and editing technical reports, requirements documentation, white papers, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information. The technical editor will develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, developers, and test support personnel. The editor will collaborate with analysts and team leaders to ensure high‑quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is easy to understand. The role may involve mission critical data and documentation transfers between separate secured networks.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and proofread materials written by others and provide suggested revisions
  • Develop and review documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with editorial and government specifications, including quality, format, style, graphics, and technical accuracy
  • Gather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities
  • Assemble complex technical concepts and integrate them into clear text and figures
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers on product and documentation requirements
  • Build relationships with team members, leadership, and customers to facilitate collaboration
  • Handle sensitive data and documentation with appropriate discretion

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Writing, English, or Journalism

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Experience with Air and Missile Defense (AMD) or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and/or government grant writing
  • 2–4 years of experience writing and/or editing technical documents (e.g., TEMPs, test plans, analysis reports)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience preparing detailed documentation for complex technical projects in conformance with strict product preparation guidelines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor communication to different audiences
