Overview
Fresno City College seeks a part-time Film Instructor to provide instruction in Film for Fresno City College. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse and equity-minded learning environment and will collaborate with faculty, classified staff, administration, students and community partners to close equity gaps.
Responsibilities
- Teaching a part-time schedule of Film courses as assigned
- Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems including technology for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff
- Adhering to institutionally approved curriculum outlines and course objectives
- Evaluating student progress through tests, assignments and other methods
- Providing course syllabi and maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy
- Submitting required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner
- Teaching assignments in various instructional settings and times as needed
- Fulfilling duties and responsibilities as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds and equity-minded practice.
- Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, Mass Communication; or
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and Master’s degree in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)
Note: If degrees do not exactly match the minimum qualifications, you must petition for equivalency.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instruction
- Experience working with racially minoritized student populations and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success
- Experience with technology-enabled instruction and assessment methods
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials; knowledge of the community college mission
Salary and Benefits
- Newly hired part-time faculty placed on step one of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule
- Salary placement based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours

Please note: This position does not have a closing date and applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. You will be placed in a continuous pool. Start dates may vary. If you are not interviewed/selected within 18 months, you may need to submit a new application.
