Salary: The prevailing salary for this position as established by Ordinance of the City Council is 27.93 - 31.59 per hour.
Examination Information
Experience Evaluation: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative evaluation of an applicant’s academic training and experience pertinent to the classification for which an examination is taken, based on the statement of experience as recorded on the candidate’s application and on academic training based on required credentials.
Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, coordinates the work performed by Radio Room personnel within the Division of Water.
- Maintains radio dispatch and other logbooks.
- Reviews the Work Management System pertinent to dispatch and customer service.
- Supervises/schedules the shift operations as needed.
- Monitors the performance of Radio Dispatchers and Customer Service Representatives.
- Maintains records of work dispatched.
- Schedules personnel required for each shift.
- Operates work management software.
- Reads roll maps and section sheets.
- Records and reports changes in vehicle call numbers.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Five years of full-time paid experience in any combination of field operations (pipe repair, meter repair, or hydraulics), customer service, and/or dispatch in the Distribution and Maintenance Section of the Division of Water required.
- Must be computer proficient and possess excellent written and verbal skills.
- Knowledge of Distribution & Maintenance workflow, processes, and procedures required.
- Must have the ability to make independent judgments and solve problems on multiple tasks.
- Based upon industry standards, a Class II Distribution License may be required within two years of hire.
Veterans’ Preference
Veterans\' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing application for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant’s supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service connected disability.
Note: Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
