Technical Writer at Brandes Associates Inc.

BAI, a defense contractor, seeks a Technical Writer with 3+ years of experience to work with Quality Assurance Engineers, Software Developers, and Testers using customer defined engineering processes in support of the Navy Mission Planning System, at Point Mugu Naval Base in Camarillo, CA. Salary: The typical annual salary range for this position is $79,775.00 USD to $110,802.00 USD. Salary will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and any contractual requirements that could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical materials, such as test reports, equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions.
  • May assist in layout work.
  • Create and maintain multiple documents associated with product deliveries including, but not limited to, Logistics, Configuration Management, Systems Engineering and Test for Domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
  • Software Description Documents (SDD) and Software Version Documents (SVD).
  • Test and Evaluation (T&E) Test Plans and Interim Summary Reports (ISR).
  • Interact with internal teams and customers to confirm Software User Manuals (SUM) changes.
  • Support regular interface meetings with customers regarding domestic and FMS SUM versions.
  • Support the reviews of product release recommendations.
  • Review and update requirements, cyber and integration documents.
  • Assist in creating templates to help manage data appropriately.
  • Work with other functional areas, verifying appropriate data with program-specific artifacts.
  • Assist in creating other ad-hoc project related documentation as needed.
  • Coordinate DoN Application and Database Management System (DADMS) submissions with Cyber Security; verify and coordinate related submissions.
  • Manage/monitor/update information from cybersecurity databases into program-related systems; ensure that applications are active in DADMS and not expired.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be detail oriented, and a self-starter.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical writing tasks.

Education

  • Degree: High School diploma
  • Allowable Substitution: GED or vocational training commensurate with Department of Labor functional description

Clearance and Citizenship

  • Condition of Employment: Applicant must have an active DoD Secret Clearance; security investigation required.
  • Citizenship: US citizenship required at the time of application.
