The Project Manager, Design & Architecture, plays a pivotal role in the execution of Din Tai Fung's restaurant projects across North America. This role bridges creativity and technical expertise ensuring accuracy, constructability, and overall alignment with Din Tai Fung's brand and operational standards.You will work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, and external (3rd party) vendors in the creation & coordination of project design intent documents, construction sets and details. The ultimate goal being to design & create cohesive, functional, and visually compelling dining environments. The role requires a strong grasp of architectural design, interior detailing, materials knowledge, construction document review, and project coordination along with best practices with an emphasis on collaborative methods & approach.
Responsibilities:
Create (CAD drafting) design intent documents for proposed NRO's and remodel projects Coordination of design intent documents with outside consultants and vendors. Represent Architecture & Design in Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) calls. Brand review of proposed construction documents and shop drawings (signage, millwork, lighting). Prepare and evaluate test fits for proposed sites, ensuring program requirements, operational flow, and brand experience are met before moving into schematic design. Cross functional collaboration between key cross functional partners. Work with FF&E vendors, millworkers, and finish suppliers to source materials, confirm specifications, and approve samples. Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design. 8+ years of experience in high-end hospitality or restaurant design, with a strong portfolio of built work in North America (can be with Corporate or Arch. Firm or Both). Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other industry-standard tools. Expertise in translating brand identity into physical space at both conceptual and technical levels. Knowledge of building codes, ADA, health, and safety requirements related to restaurant design. Strong understanding of architectural drawings, construction documents, and design standards. Proven ability to manage consultants, contractors, and cross-functional teams. Passion for hospitality, design, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Excellent project management, budgeting, and communication skills. LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable design practices is a plus. Preferred Requirements:
Experience with full service High-End Restaurant Design (Either in-house Corp. or Firm). Knowledge of Asian design aesthetics or familiarity with Din Tai Fung brand and customer experience. Essential Functions:
Manage the end-to-end design process for new restaurant projects, from schematic design (SD) through design development (DD), construction documents (CD), construction administration (CA), and project closeout. Prepare detailed drawings (schematic plans, design intent drawings, details), diagrams, and presentations using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Suite, Adobe Suite). Create and manage project timelines, budgets, and milestone tracking to ensure project schedules, costs and alignment are maintained. Manage communication with external consultants including architects, MEP engineers, structural engineers, and local permitting agencies. Manage and communicate with internal partners for alignment. Review and approve drawings, renderings, and material specifications to ensure compliance with Din Tai Fung's standards. Participate in site visits, construction administration, and punch walks to maintain design integrity during build-out. Oversee FF&E specifications, sourcing, and procurement support in collaboration with procurement and operations. Identify and help resolve design or construction issues proactively. Maintain a repository of design documentation, including CAD/Revit files, finish schedules, fixture details, and brand standards. Special Requirements:
Travel to construction sites approximately 15% or as needed
