What Will Be On Your Plate?
Job Title: Floral Designer
Department: Floral
Reports To: Floral Manager / Store Director
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Floral Designer performs the following duties (other duties may be assigned):
Train and coach employee procedures and tasks for the department. Under the direction of the Floral Manager is responsible for in-service training for all employees and documents all training.
Coordinates activities of workers engaged in ordering, processing, and selling of products.
Assures proper displaying and selling of department products to customers and advises customers on the quality of flowers, methods of handling flowers and plants, and other factors affecting this perishable product.
Maintains high-profit margin by the approved pre-set budget and pricing schedule, which entails, but is not limited to: sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes, and waste management.
Manages and assures proper displaying and selling of flowers, plants, and accessories by company merchandising standards.
Trains and encourages all employees on floral design and customer relationship skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This is a management-in-training position. As such, all qualities needed for a Floral Manager must also be seen as already existing or potentially in the Floral Designer.
Education and/or Experience
One-year certificate from college or technical preferred; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for eight hours at a time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
