Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
UHC Minimum:
- Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work, Public Health or related degree.
- 3–5 years experience working with sexual assault victims.
- 3–5 years experience in conducting training for small and large groups; public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills.
UHC Preferred:
- Certified 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Training in accordance with MN statute 595.02 and OJP guidelines. Must complete the 40-hour Rape Advocate Training provided by UCASA within one month of hire if not certified.
- Three years experience in direct social service with knowledge in sexual violence, domestic violence, women’s issues, human and child development, and working with families in crisis.
- Group facilitation skills; ability to communicate effectively, provide conflict resolution, problem solve, and crisis management.
- Excellent ability to assess and intervene with appropriate and effective intervention.
- Understand the importance of Safe Harbor.
- Background working with domestic violence or sexual assault victim advocacy services, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Skilled in case management and confidential victim advocacy.
- Knowledge in developing, implementing, and evaluating education and outreach initiatives in a higher education setting.
- Training in trauma-informed presenting and service provision.
Position Summary
This position provides trauma-informed support, advocacy, and resources to survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating or domestic violence, and stalking. The RSVP Advocate assists survivors in scheduling forensic exams, law enforcement/title IX interviews, hearings, and arranging academic and/or housing accommodations; connects students to campus and community resources. The person may serve on the on-call advocate crisis response team and facilitate prevention programs to reduce interpersonal violence on campus.
The position may also involve serving as a navigator for campus systems (e.g., registrar, financial aid, academic affairs) and contributing to campus policy development in accordance with campus, state, and federal guidelines.

Advocacy & Student Support
- Demonstrated skills in implementing group and population-specific interventions.
- Trauma-informed approaches to advocacy services addressing sexual assault, partner abuse, and stalking.
- Knowledge of interpersonal violence and victim advocacy with focus on student well-being.
- Understanding of resiliency, persistence, and well-being of college students.
Compliance & Professionalism
- Familiarity with confidentiality regulations (HIPAA, FERPA, state/federal guidelines).
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Remain composed in emergencies and high-stress situations; exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Interpersonal & Communication
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and written/oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with individuals in difficult situations.
- Strong service orientation with a focus on student support.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with web-based data entry and ability to learn new technologies.
- Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms for outreach and communication.
Physical Demands
Ability to transport lightweight equipment across campus and to offsite locations; able to sit for extended periods. Driving is not a required responsibility of this position.

Duties/Responsibilities
Advocacy and Prevention:
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current literature and best practices regarding sexual assault and interpersonal violence, including federal regulations (Title IX, Clery Act).
- Provides advocacy-based support to students affected by interpersonal violence, including secondary trauma.
- Works with students of diverse identities and collaborates with HP team on needs assessments and evaluation surveys.
- Participates in on-call advocacy rotation; some after-hours work may be required.
- Serves as a point of contact for campus resources and referrals for students, faculty, and staff.
- Provides case management and advocacy through the judicial conduct process at UGA.
- Trains faculty, staff, and students in responding to reports of sexual assault or gender-based violence.
- Acts as a navigator for University systems (e.g., registrar, financial aid) in petition processes as required.
- Contributes to development of campus policies on sexual violence in accordance with guidelines.
- Provides referrals to campus entities such as counseling and health services; collaborates with campus and community organizations to meet survivors’ needs.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- Develops strong working relationships with campus and community partners (EOO, Student Conduct, UGA PD, The Cottage, Project SAFE).
- Delivers high-quality education with clarity and empathy to students; co-facilitates training programs and groups.
- Maintains communication with supervisors, colleagues, and students to ensure responsibilities are met.
- Serves on relevant committees and development groups on campus and in the community.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
