This position assesses, diagnoses, treats, educates, and helps to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency. Speech-Language Pathologists/Audiologists use special instruments and qualitative and quantitative assessment methods, including standardized tests, to analyze and diagnose the nature and extent of impairments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations of speech-language or hearing disorders.
• Prepare written recommendations for treatment to improve speech-language or hearing abilities.
• Write reports on individuals receiving treatment.
• Conduct treatment sessions on an individual or group basis based on treatment plans.
• Prepare and maintain files for each client.
• Utilize diagnostic and treatment materials and instrumentation for differential diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of outcomes.
• Lecture on and demonstrate differential diagnosis and treatment principles for speech-language or hearing disorders.
• Evaluate student performance in clinical practice courses.
• Facilitate obtaining funding for equipment and services related to communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Provide referrals and information to other professionals, agencies, and consumer organizations.
• Note: This position will service Hillsborough and nearby counties. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
• Possession of the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; or possession of a certificate to practice speech-language pathology or audiology in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes.
