Overview
Assistant Teaching Professor, Communication (Digital Media) at The University of Tampa. Full-time, non-tenure track teaching professor position to begin August 15, 2026. Teaching load is 4 courses (16 credit hours) per semester over two 15-week semesters. A graduate degree related to Communication is required; terminal degree preferred.
About the Department
The Department of Communication within the College of Arts and Letters offers four majors (Advertising & Public Relations, Communication and Media Studies, Journalism, Speech and Communication Studies) and two M.A. programs (MAPC and MASem). The University emphasizes a diverse, vibrant campus community and a commitment to quality education.
Responsibilities
- Teach four (4) courses per 15-week semester
- Advise students
- Engage in service as defined in the Faculty Handbook
- Maintain professional creative and/or scholarly practice
Qualifications
- Graduate degree related to the field by December 1, 2025
- Ability to teach foundations in creative digital media (e.g., fundamentals of 2D design and production, short-form video for social media, web design)
- Knowledge of strategic use of digital media; experience in media design and production; proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs and foundational web-building technologies
- Understanding of visual culture and representation of diverse subjects; commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds
- Past professional experience preferred; knowledge of ACEJMC Accreditation a plus
