The role you’re interested in…

You will collaborate with the Art Director to elevate the creative output and graphic design capability within our small services team. You will work hands-on across a wide range of graphic projects and media using design software, including AI-assisted tools and standard design and presentation software. You’ll obtain input from managers to ensure designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately. You will work independently and with brand team leads to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and schedule project implementation across multiple simultaneous projects.

The work environment…

We operate a HYBRID workplace. For those based near the Bay Area, expect in-office attendance on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the weekly hybrid schedule and all-company meetings. The role is located in our Emeryville/Oakland/Berkeley corridor with access to parking and transit options.

The expected pay scale for this role is $105k to $115k, which may vary based on experience, qualifications, geographic area, and internal equity.

Creative Execution: 65%

  • Collaborate with multiple teams or clients on a wide range of materials including sales and marketing presentations, sell sheets, in-store and trade show signage, internal communications, and corporate materials.
  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
  • Develop concepts and execute content by determining color, typography, imagery, and layout; manage the design and uploading process for reviews with project managers and final production needs.

Production Execution: 20%

This includes updating digital assets for e-commerce, website, and email creative; creating/updating marketing communications materials based on templates or previous versions; ad hoc image resizing; and occasional packaging updates.

Packaging Proofing and Press Checks: <10%

Occasional travel to print vendors for press checks or virtual/in-person reviews; lab color targets and in-house options.

The daily stuff that everyone does but few quantify: 5% of your time

  • Examine existing processes, identify flaws, and create solutions to improve design capabilities.
  • Update and maintain internal design file databases and coordinate photography and video assets.
  • Participate in growth and learning opportunities on-site and through self-initiated activities.

What are we looking for?

  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills.
  • Five or more years of academic and professional design experience with software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint; not an entry-level role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities for deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to continue building skills through education and training.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration ability and relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, including international work.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional design experience (agency or in-house).
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on design experience within a brand guide and evolving the guide as needed.
  • Experience with digital CMS and email systems is a plus.
  • Adobe Firefly and Generative AI experience a plus.
  • Packaging design and production knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to attend press checks periodically.

Skills and mindset:

  • Strong relationship skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate delays or obstacles clearly.
  • Proficiency in creating assets for print and digital channels in a fast-paced environment.
