Job Description

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Writing Consultant will support the Writing Studio by providing consultation services to student visitors and will support the studio coordinator/assistant coordinator by maintaining careful record of student interactions.

Duties include: one-on-one consultation services; supervising/checking in with independently working students; scheduling new/follow-up appointments with students; completing/verifying records of daily student interactions; developing/delivering studio workshops; and other tasks as assigned.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Instructional experience in English or writing-related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of English grammatical structures
  • Demonstration of achievement in areas of English writing and analysis
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A willingness to work with diverse populations.

  • Experience in a college writing center or college-level language support program
