Operate and maintain the rig’s communication systems and assist with general clerical duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in electrical technology or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience as a dispatcher or comparable position, experience working offshore preferred.
  • Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
  • Class 1 Radio Operation Certificate or equivalent certification required; GMDSS Radio Operator’s License or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in office applications and other systems required for the position.
  • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to work at a high pace with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Establish and coordinate all radio communications.
  • Receive and transmit radio communication messages in accordance with applicable regulations as well as Noble’s policies.
  • Perform and coordinate isolation of radio transmissions during radio silence for the use of explosive devices.
  • Maintain listening watch on the marine and aeronautical band emergency channels and respond to distress and emergency calls. Informs and takes direction from the Master/Rig Superintendent on what assistance can be offered.
  • Maintain the communications equipment and navigational aids.
  • Perform tests, minor repairs and adjustments on radio equipment and lifeboat radios.
  • Charge and replace batteries as needed.
  • Copy broadcast schedules such as weather information and news.
  • Coordinate crew changes. Keep POB and Crew Roster, and distribute as directed.
  • Maintain the radio log, keeping account of the telephone calls, facsimiles, and telexes transmitted.
  • Maintain helicopter safety “flight watch” when requested to do so by aircraft pilots.
  • Monitor communication on the appropriate frequency during helicopter and boat operations to the location and as specified by the helicopter and boat operating for Noble.
  • Advise helicopter traffic of prevailing wind conditions.
  • Maintain a log of all aircraft and boat activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime and aeronautical related communications procedures and regulations.
  • Perform inspections as required and reports all hazards.

Health, Safety & Environmental

  • Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
  • Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
  • Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
  • Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
  • Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
  • Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
  • Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
  • Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
