Overview
Southern Land Company is a national real estate development and construction firm seeking a full-time Assistant Community Manager to join our team in Charleston, SC. Society at Laurens is a luxury mid-rise residential community with 148 residences and amenities including a resort-style pool, lounge, fitness center, and business center. The candidate should be passionate about providing world-class customer service and able to work independently with strong organization and communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with daily, weekly, and month-end reporting, including accurate reporting on resident ledgers.
- Post rent, collect delinquent accounts, manage the eviction process, and prepare final accounting statements after resident move-out; create/post deposits.
- Secure and manage lease renewals and prepare new lease paperwork for final approval.
- Walk and inspect the community daily, address issues, and verify property conditions meet company standards.
- Assist with hiring and training of new staff members.
- Monitor resident satisfaction through various communication methods and surveys.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of area competitors.
- Oversee property operations and staff when the Community Manager is not on site.
- Assist with leasing duties, including tours of prospective residents and preparation of lease agreements as needed.
- Assist with hosting resident appreciation events.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Yardi products.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and co-workers in person and on the phone.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, ability to take initiative, exercise good judgment, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and seek clarification when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and handle frequent interruptions, changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience as an assistant manager
- 3 years’ experience in property management
- Fair Housing training
- CAM certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Bookkeeping/account reconciliation experience
- Property management experience with focus on lease-up and mixed-use communities
- Experience with YARDI
