Technical Writer

Location: Durham, North Carolina, United States

Employment Type: Full-time, Contract

We are looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products and processes. You will join a team of talented engineers who work collaboratively with product managers, test engineers, quality engineers, and usability experts to make our products and processes easier to use.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create or revise product SOPs for RMA work.
• Create, edit, and publish documentation related to products, services, and processes.
• Analyze existing and potential SOPs, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
• Research topics, write documents, and edit their work for publication.
• Communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner – written and visual.
• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
• Create and maintain the information architecture.
• Other assignments as needed to support overall business needs.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements

• Proven working experience in technical writing of IT documentation.
• Ability to deliver high quality documentation with attention to detail.
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
• Excellent written skills in English.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

3+ years of technical/SOP writing experience.
