Creative Reuse Warehouse Team / Communications Creative Reuse Warehouse Team Member / Communications Associate (Part-time)
15-20 hours per week (on site Wednesdays, Thursdays and/or Saturdays with flexible hours). Starting wage: $17.00/hour plus a generous material allowance.

CCRx is a nonprofit organization that provides donated surplus materials, supplies, and equipment to Chicago teachers and nonprofits while fostering creativity and sustainability through various creative reuse programs, products, and events. The CCRx Warehouse is located at 2124 W. 82nd Place, in the Envision Unlimited Frick Center. Envision is a nonprofit that serves adults with disabilities in a structured workshop environment, and we regularly interact with their members and staff, providing activities and materials.
Responsibilities CCRx Warehouse Team Members open and close the warehouse, conduct sales and donation transactions, maintain ever-changing inventory and display of donations ranging from office supplies, art materials to science and sports equipment while assisting donors, patrons and volunteers.
Team Members also post selected items online, design and fabricate creative reuse products and kits, and participate in creative reuse workshops, among other tasks.
Communications Associates work with Warehouse Manager to maintain an active social media and online market presence (Ebay, Eventbrite, Facebook, Instagram) for events and inventory.
Team Member activities may include, but are not limited to:
Greet and assist donors and patrons courteously and professionally
Manage appointments, transactions, and order fulfillment using the Wix app
Orient and manage individual and group volunteers by assigning and overseeing tasks
Receive and process donations on site—sometimes heavy boxes and skids
Conduct online research and social media posts (FB, Instagram)
Engage Envision Unlimited staff and members through tasks and activities
Design, fabricate and prep materials for creative reuse workshops, products and kits
Participate in community outreach, pickups and packups, and special events
Serve as an ambassador for CCRx in the Chicago community.
Qualifications Applicants should be: Reliable, self-directed, efficient, and flexible team players with good time-management skills
Problem-solvers and action-takers, attentive to both details and overall warehouse priorities
Possessing a strong work ethic, integrity, and good judgment
Creative and inventive in terms of materials and reuse
Able to multi-task
Comfortable engaging with patrons while efficiently handling other warehouse tasks
Able to communicate in writing and verbally with a variety of people both online and in person
Curious, kind, and possessing a sense of humor
Requirements:
Reliable transportation to and from the warehouse (CTA service varies)
Physical mobility, including lifting, lowering, and sliding donated materials weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as using a dolly or pallet jack to load or unload trucks
A smartphone that can be used for warehouse work
Familiarity with or ability to learn the Wix inventory/website platform
Hold a valid Driver’s License and have a good driving record
Undergo a background check in accordance with state guidelines
Preference will be given to individuals who:
Demonstrate a commitment to environmentally responsible practices
Have retail and/or e-commerce experience, ideally in a reuse/resale setting and/or with books, fabric, art/crafts, electronics, hardware, etc.
Are handy with tools and technology and enjoy fixing things
Experienced in education/teaching, arts/crafts, sewing, science and tech
Have familiarity with neighborhood assets on Chicago’s South and West sides
This is a part-time independent contractor position that starts at $17 per hour with a generous material allowance. Team Members must be available during CCRx operating hours (Wednesdays 10 - 5, Thursdays 12 - 7 and/or Saturdays 10 - 4) and plan for off-site tasks as well as occasional special events; thus, some weekend and evening availability is required.
