Public Services Librarian – Senior Assistant Librarian

Fresno State University – University Library – Spring 2026 full‑time, tenure‑track position.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty and staff in the Kremen School of Education and Human Development to develop and provide user‑focused library services supporting teaching, research, and student success.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate information literacy concepts and instructional skills.
• Design, create, and deliver outreach materials and instructional modules in a variety of modalities.
• Provide in‑person and online research assistance across disciplines.
• Participate in collection development, reference service, and scholarly communication initiatives, including the university’s digital repository.
• Serve as subject librarian and contribute to shared governance and academic life of the campus.

Qualifications

Required

• MLS from an ALA‑accredited library school or equivalent.
• Anticipated start date Spring 2026 – MLS must be completed prior to hire.
• Demonstrated knowledge of instruction, information literacy, and student learning outcomes.
• Strong public service orientation, reference service and research consultation experience.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student and staff community.
• Knowledge of current trends in librarianship and scholarly communication.

Preferred

• Experience in an academic library environment.
• Subject knowledge or experience in K‑12 teaching/leadership or administration.
• Experience designing and delivering instruction for undergraduate and/or graduate students.
• Proficiency in multiple modes of reference service and research consultation (in‑person, chat, phone/video).
• Collaborative, independent work in a complex, changing environment.
• Experience with outreach programs and services.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and scholarship.
