Overview
The Court Reporter IV (CRR) position at the Colorado Judicial Branch provides real‑time, verbatim court reporting services for jury trials, preliminary hearings, motions, and other court proceedings. RPR‑certified reporters manage transcript production, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with judicial staff in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide real‑time, verbatim court reporting services through stenographic shorthand for jury trials, preliminary hearings, motions, and other requested court proceedings.
- Manage and maintain records and prioritize transcript production; prepare required reports and documentation pursuant to Chief Justice Directive 05-03 and local policies and procedures.
- Ensure backup of all stenographic notes, rough drafts, and completed transcripts including reporter dictionaries, CAT software files, and stenographic machine files.
- Assist team members, work on various hearings and/or trials as a team, share files and work product, and attend weekly meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or 2 years of college experience; additional work experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- 1 to 3 years of court reporting experience.
- RPR certification through the NCRA plus meet national standard for realtime (96% accuracy on one of the applicable exams).
- Advanced skills and extensive knowledge of work; recognized by others within the organization for technical depth of knowledge.
Physical Effort Requirements
Medium work; exerts up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
Work Environment
Office or similar indoor environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
Compensation
Full‑time annual salary range: $69,038 – $100,105.
