We are seeking a creative and detail?oriented Color Designer to join our client's dynamic product team. The role involves end?to?end execution of color designs, transforming concepts into market?ready products.

Compensation Range: $45 - 50 per hour

Location: Los Angeles, California

Job Type: Contract

Responsibilities

  • Execute color designs, finalizing product details and proactively managing the application of color for each product.
  • Review all samples to achieve marketable solutions, collaborating with design, marketing, and development for approvals.
  • Clearly communicate all changes and updates for final confirmation, taking ownership of the color in the final product result.
  • Maintain the category's color calendar, ensuring all timelines and deadlines are met.
  • Develop and manage line art, color design servers, GPIN, PDM, and merchandising lines.
  • Collaborate with design, product marketing, and development teams to focus color solutions for market success.
  • Gather and analyze category?specific information, including consumer, channel, and market trends.
  • Develop solutions that balance quality, cost, manufacturability, sustainability, and merchandising needs.
  • Create and execute innovative, retail?able color solutions for a category or gender?specific product line.
  • Help create the seasonal direction for color, materials, and graphics that reflects our design philosophy and appeals to the target consumer.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of color, design, market, and lifestyle trends and apply this knowledge effectively.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the target consumer, their culture, and their retail habits.
  • Analyze competitor products, market trends, and brand positioning to inform color strategies.
  • Apply consumer?driven insights to create compelling and relevant color solutions.
  • Present and communicate the category?specific color direction and merchandising strategy to internal teams and key stakeholders as needed.
  • Continuously develop excellence as a Color Designer by growing functional expertise in materials, special effects, technology, and presentation tools.
  • Proactively work with management to advance color design skills, experiences, and product and process knowledge.

Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2-4 years of directly relevant work experience.
  • One of the following alternatives may be accepted:
  • PhD or Law degree with 1+ year of experience
  • Master's degree with 0-3 years of experience
  • Associate's degree with 1-3 years of experience
  • High School diploma with 3-5 years of experience

Preferred Skills
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in color theory, application, and trend forecasting.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively in a team?oriented environment.
