The Role

The Design Researcher collects, processes, interprets, and reports on research findings. Responsibilities include on‑site ethnography and interviews in hospitals, offices, and homes; applying qualitative and quantitative techniques; preparing deliverables; presenting findings; translating insights into design criteria; and collaborating with the Design Team and Director.

• Design comprehensive research methodologies to gather insights from consumers, stakeholders, and industry leaders.
• Develop detailed research briefs outlining goals and recommended methodologies.
• Plan and execute ethnographic research in hospitals, offices, and homes.
• Conduct and moderate one‑on‑one interviews and focus groups.
• Design and evaluate quantitative surveys.
• Write discussion guides and screeners for recruiting participants.
• Assess vendor proposals and guide research methods.
• Prepare detailed reports and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and internal clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in design research, design planning/strategy, product design, design engineering, social sciences, behavioral sciences, or related field.
• 1 year of professional experience planning and conducting design research, analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data, and participating in concept workshops.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research methodology skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word (Mac), Adobe InDesign, and video editing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree.
• Advertising or branding background.
• Experience facilitating group meetings and design thinking sessions with senior executives.
