Job Description

The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning’s mission is to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and childcare. We research, develop, and scale educational innovations for adults and children that put all learners on trajectories for lifelong success. Specifically, the Center targets kindergarten readiness, 3rd grade reading proficiency, and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in children’s educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. The Center works at the nexus of research, practice, and policy to develop sustainable systems that leverage educational technologies and improve the implementation of research‑based practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the content of various communication media including brochures, memos, and digital communication media. Conduct final review and approval before communications are released.
  • Assist in translating messages using words, images, sounds, and animation to implement effective communication materials and campaigns.
  • Ensure all websites and the intranet are up to date, accurate, and aligned with organizational standards and priorities.
  • Upload, edit, and manage web content through the organization’s content management systems (CMS).
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar to schedule updates, reviews, and seasonal or campaign‑related content.
  • Conduct regular content audits to identify outdated information, broken links, accessibility issues, and formatting inconsistencies.
  • Maintain consistent tone, structure, and formatting across all web properties in accordance with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Participate in QA testing prior to major site updates, redesigns, or feature launches.
  • Collaborate with the communications coordinator to ensure regular content reviews and updates.
  • Support internal stakeholders with guidance on content formatting and publishing best practices as it pertains to SEO.
  • Monitor website performance metrics related to content (e.g., engagement, bounce rates) and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor website SEO scores and propose improvements through content writing and organization.
  • Ensure all content adheres to WCAG accessibility standards and other compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, web design, or a related field and one year of experience in web content management or digital communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage content on multiple websites and coordinate across departments or stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and executing content calendars or editorial plans.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with content strategy, user experience (UX) principles, and SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and experience ensuring content compliance.
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or similarly structured organization is a plus.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Proficiency in one or more content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for troubleshooting or formatting content.
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Proficiency with using shared content/document tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Experience with project management or editorial tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, Airtable).
  • Proficiency with accessibility checking tools (e.g., Siteimprove, Monsido, WAVE).
  • Understanding of SEO tools and principles (e.g., Yoast, Moz, SEMrush).

Salary

Expected Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
