Job Summary
The Film Production Program in the Department of Communication, Arts, and Design (CAD) at Southeast University is seeking qualified candidates for an on‑site full‑time faculty position focused on post production. This posting is for a full‑time professor to teach undergraduate post production courses on the main campus in Lakeland, Florida.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to: Dean of JCBCL / Chair of Communications Department.
Essential Duties
- Teach undergraduate courses in the Film Production program, including core courses in CAD and Film.
- Specialize in post‑production courses such as Digital Video Editing, Advanced Editing, Editing for Story, and Audio for TV and Film.
- All faculty in Film teach a general‑education foundation course in Film Appreciation.
- Assist with the coloring and sound mixing of student films.
- Create an engaging, learning‑centered classroom environment and contribute to a vigorous and dynamic film program culture.
- Incorporate real‑world industry experience and case studies into the curriculum.
- Uphold and model the university’s Christian mission and values in the classroom.
- Provide regular feedback, mentorship, and support to students.
- Utilize the syllabi, assignments, and projects in accordance with university guidelines.
- Be available for student consultations as needed.

All remaining duties are considered “nonessential.”

SEU Lakeland Campus.
Education
Required Education: MFA or Ph.D. in Film Production, Communication, or a closely related field.
Licenses / Certifications
None.
Experience
Required
- Proficiency with editing, coloring, and audio mixing software, including Adobe Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and other industry‑standard software.
- Demonstrated professional experience in the film industry.
- Ability to integrate faith into teaching and discussions, supporting the Christian worldview of the university.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to academic excellence and the development of students as future professionals in the film industry.
Preferred
- Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting.
- Familiarity with active learning strategies and experiential learning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Digital design experience and competence to teach motion graphics and animation.
- Leading film student projects through coloring, sound mixing, and other post‑production processes.
- Faculty load includes department service with student productions as well as academic advising and service to the University.

Training
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90‑day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended for additional training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training includes safety, screening, and other standard university training.

Screening
All full‑time positions at SEU are deemed security‑sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car, or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the University’s insurance carrier.
