The English Department of Hunter College invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in any area of medieval literature and culture (c. 600‑1500), including Old English, Old Norse, Middle English, manuscript studies, digital humanities, medieval drama, Arthurian romance, and the literature of medieval Ireland, Scotland, or Wales. Beginning in Fall 2026, the successful candidate will teach three courses per semester at the advanced undergraduate or graduate level, pursue original scholarly research, and participate in the administrative life of the department and the college.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in English or a related field by the date of appointment; demonstrated teaching success; scholarship or achievement; ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

Assistant Professor: $79,598 – $109,025. CUNY offers health insurance, pension, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
