Company Overview
Situation is a leading full-service marketing and advertising agency specializing in live experience-based brands, including some of Broadway's biggest blockbusters and iconic live experiences like The Metropolitan Opera and the Empire State Building. We create groundbreaking campaigns that captivate audiences and drive cultural conversation.
Role Summary
We're seeking a Creative Director to be the leading visionary behind full advertising campaigns for live global theatrical brands—including Broadway, Off-Broadway, and beyond. This role is tailor-made for a creative doer with the instinct to turn the magic of theater into bold, effective campaigns that move audiences and sell tickets. Whether your background is in copy, design, or video—and whether you're a seasoned Creative Director or an Associate Creative Director ready for the next challenge—you’re a master storyteller. You know how to uncover what makes a show irresistible and lead compelling, integrated campaigns across OOH, digital, print, video, broadcast, and experiential. You understand the unique rhythm of live entertainment—from early key art to opening night to the stages of the show’s continued life over a theatrical season. You’ll balance hands‑on making with team leadership, guiding copywriters, designers, and editors to deliver work that’s as inventive as it is impactful—all while pushing the creative beyond the expected. Our office is located in midtown Manhattan, with a hybrid schedule.
Sample Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Lead creative strategy and execution for a portfolio of Broadway and Off‑Broadway productions
Develop and present insight‑driven concepts that inspire audiences and drive ticket sales
Translate the unique identity of each show into storytelling that shines across every platform
Push creative boundaries, ensuring campaigns feel ambitious, fresh, and culturally relevant
Partner with producers, general managers, and client stakeholders as the primary creative voice on accounts
Stay hands‑on in your craft—whether designing, writing, or editing—while guiding the team toward excellence
Mentor Art Directors and Copywriters, fostering growth, collaboration, and creative confidence
Oversee client presentations, including developing decks and articulating creative vision with clarity and conviction
Collaborate with Client Services and Project Management to align creative output with budgets, timelines, and resources

8‑10+ years of creative leadership experience, ideally in entertainment or agency environments
Deep knowledge of the Broadway space and a proven track record in theatrical or live event marketing
